This hat is a wired silk covered buckram hat. In the back view on the bottom you can see the Hat Pin. I'm not sure that it is period but considering its length (12") I think it is. In the photo of the front you can see the self-trim that I folded and inter wove to make the trim. It is both sewn down and glued. This silk was woven with vivid blue warp and egg yellow weft. It also has purple highlights in some lights and direction. That is why I used purple plums along with the blue. The blue matched the warp of the fabric. There are one dozen of each color feather. They are sewn together on groups of three.
