This gown was made to fit my 9 year old niece, because girls of that age usually
don't have the kind of waist that will hold up a heavy Elizabethan skirt, I
decided to attach the skirt to an underbodice. I also decided to add a built
in petticoat to the underbodice
. The petticoat is made of a soft tule (white) and a much stiffer tule (yellow)
. When the cartridge pleated skirt was sewn on over this tule together they added
the type of fulness that one might get from a petticoat and bumroll.
