Elizabethan Middle Class Hat
On the left is a "Tall Hat" shown with a Caul, on the right it is shown with a coif or biggins. The tall hat is a felted wool fabric covered, buckram hat. I arrived at the pattern for this hat through trial and error with cardboard. I starting with a pattern given in "Elizabethan Costuming" by Janet Winter & Carolyn Savoy on page 142.
