Photo 11. Detail of the side of a French hood. Both the band and the coronet of this French hood are decorated with pearls and beads. Metallic tube beads work very well to make the outer edge of the coronet. Both the pearls and the tube beads were first strung onto 18 gage stainless steel wire and then this was couched to the fabric covered plastic canvas coronet with 4 strands of silver metallic thread. It is difficult to see the thread because it is sewn into the velvet between stitches.
