This hat is a wired covered buckram hat. It is covered with a cut and uncut silk velvet fabric. The crown is covered with one large oval piece of wool that is pleated as you see in photo. It was constructed to look like a photo in Janet Arnold pg33 plate235.
This is the same hat with an other band and some ostrich plumes.
