Child's Highlander Costume Shoulder View
In this picture, you can see detail of the trim on the kirtle. Twisting miniature rickrack of two different colors together created this trim. It was then sewed down by hand along the sleeve opening and the keck opening. Because the blue almost matches the kirtle color from a distance it just looks like brown decorative stitches. You can also see the rose color stitching that I did on the bodice. It is just a running stitch with 6 strands of DMC floss. It also serves a purpose; it helps to flatten the seam allowances of what is very heavy felted wool.
