Cartridge or Organ Pleats
In order to get this much heavy fabric onto a waistband you almost have to rely on the cartridge pleat. I used five rows of parallel stitches with heavy carpet thread. I used the same thread to cast over the metallic eyelets (see photo above) and to make the laces. For a simple illustration of how to do a cartridge pleated skirt click below.
