Silk Victorian Mourning Dress with Velvet Jacket
This costume was made for the Greater Bay Area Costumers Guild Victorian Day of Mourning. I did go to the event even though the costume wasn't not quite finished. The Costume now has a jacket, it is trimed with gathered bias trim that is made with the same silk as the dress. The bonnet, my memory book and black net gloves are on the table. The memory book has a photo of my Great Grandfather Dr. Francis Roche on the cover. The button from his uniform is attached to the ribbon along with a locket that contains a weaving of my Great-Great Grandmother and Grandfather's hair.
